Unidentified miscreants this evening fired at a person in Puri town of Odisha allegedly due to rivalry over sand mining.
The victim has been identified as Bhagu Pradhan, a history-sheeter. A number of cases, including murder, have been pending against him at various police stations in the district.
According to reports, Pradhan sustained bullet injuries on his right shoulder after being shot by miscreants near Balighat square. The incident is suspected to be fallout of sand mine leasing.
The injured was rushed to a private hospital in the town in a critical condition and later was shifted to Bhubaneswar after preliminary treatment.
Police rushed to the spot and launched a probe into the incident.
