Bhubaneswar, Sep 17:
Acting on a written complaint lodged by leading devotional singer of Odisha Arabinda Muduli alleging that he was injured after a drunkard launched an attack on him in front of his residence in Bhimtangi under Airfield police limits, the commissionerate police arrested a 30-old-year man this evening.
The arrested accused has been identified as Ila Behera.
The incident took place when Muduli was returning to his residence with his son.
“Two drunken youths were shouting using slangs and obstructed our way. My son intervened and asked them to clear the road and all of a sudden one of the youth assaulted him,” alleged Muduli.
“After he assaulted my son, I intervened and I was also assaulted. I lost my sense. Later locals rescued me and rushed me to the nearest hospital for treatment,” said the 54-year old singer, who sustained minor injuries on his face.
Later police arrested the accused on the basis of CCTV footage, which recorded the entire sequence of events.
