Young Odisha footballer Prakash Naik to train at Tata Football Academy

Strengthening its commitment to promote sports in Odisha, Tata Steel, in association with Tata Football Academy (TFA), Jamshedpur has selected Prakash Naik of Unit-6 Athletic Association, Bhubaneswar .

Naik will be inducted in TFA’s junior batch for training at Jamshedpur.

Sports and Youth Services minister Sudam Marandi, in presence of Arun Misra, Vice President, Gopalpur Project, Tata Steel,  felicitated Prakash at a function organized at Unit-6 football ground today.

Marandi, congratulated Prakash and lauded the efforts undertaken by Tata Steel to promote sports in the state.

With his exceptionally good skills in football and with all his love and determination to excel in the game, Prakash stands apart from the rest. The 16 year-old talented player is a native of Sutahata, Cuttack. It was only after a series of intensive selection trials were selected as a cadet of TFA.

Prakash would be provided intensive and advanced training of international standards at TFA. Prakash, who has been playing with Unit 6 Athletic Association for last 3 years, could be graduating from the TFA by 2018. Tata Steel to bear all his expenses during the training period.

Congratulating Praksh for his success, Arun Misra, Vice President, Gopalpur Project said, Tata Steel will continue its engage with the state of Odisha to promote sports and nurture many more talents like Prakash in future.

“I am fortunate to be selected for the TFA team where my skills will be groomed and I will be trained, with the necessary equipment, under the right supervision.  I am thankful to Tata Steel for giving me this opportunity to pursue my dream” said Prakash, the young football talent.

Selection for the training at TFA is based on the physical attributes, age and technical ability of the aspirants. At TFA the cadet is provided with best infrastructure i.e. academy hostel, nutrition, playing kit, stipend and exposure to play with the best in India and abroad. TFA has its own exclusive gymnasium for the cadets and a resident physiotherapist to ensure minimal injury and faster recovery.
