World Quality Day was celebrated at Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) on Thursday.
A pledge taking ceremony was held on this occasion, in which the employees of the plant took a pledge to provide defect-free products and services to all its customers on time and every time by establishing an effective Quality Management System.
Similar flag hoisting and pledge taking ceremonies were also held at ED (Projects) office, ED (Works) Office and Ispat General Hospital (IGH).
A function was organized at Gopabandhu Auditorium to mark the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, RK Nehru, ED (MM) said that RSP had achieved many feats in the field of quality by receiving ISO Certifications for quality management, environment management, OHSAS and most recently the SA 8000 system. Emphasizing on the role of RSP in implementing quality systems, he said, “RSP is committed to the cause of quality and will continue to work towards achieving qualitative excellence.”
Trophies were presented to Sinter Plant-II and Blast Furnaces as the Best Department and Second Best Department in terms of ‘Best Quality Parameters’. A documentary ‘Quality for Sustainability’ made by the Public Relations department, in association with the Business Excellence-TQM department, was another highlight of the programme.
The occasion was graced by ED (MM) RK Nehru, who hoisted the Quality flag at the Main Gate of the Plant in the presence of MK Das, ED (Projects), SK Acharya, ED (Projects), V Sankaranarayanan, GM In-charge (Works), Dr. SK Mishra, Director-in-charge of Medical & Health Services and many other senior officers of the steel plant.
