Working Journalist’s Association celebrates National Press Day in Odisha

The Talcher Working Journalists’ Association celebrated the National Press Day at Talcher town of Odisha’s Angul district on November 15 and 16.

During the two-day celebration, the Association took up plantation work and Swachha Bharat Abhiyan and organised a blood donation camp at Prajamandal Bhaban in association with the Red Cross Blood Bank, Talcher. Around 42 units of blood were collected.

On the concluding day, the Association conferred the 4th Pillar Awards on the journalists working in print and television media.

Awards were presented for the following categories.

Life Time Achievement Award- Niranjan Rath (Printer & Publisher, The Samaja)
Journalist Icon Award – Manas Ranjan Sahoo, (O TV, Apana Eka Nuhanti Producer)
Star New Comer Award- Ashirbad Rout (Reporter, Dharitri, Angul)
Educationalist Award- Mrinal Chatterjee, IIMC, Dhenkanal
Media Revolution Award- Subrat Dash (Senior Sub-Editor, The Sambad, BBSR)
Star Anchor Award- Shakti Sai Mishra, Anchor, Focus TV
Star Video Journalist Award – Manoj Mishra (Camera chief) Zee Kalinga.
Sambad Gourav Award- Devi Mishra, Reporter, The Samaja, Talcher
Odisha Sambad Gourav Award- Surya Deo, senior journalist , Bhubaneswar
Public Service Award- Samal Care, Banarpal, Angul
CSR Excellence Award- NTPC, Ltd. , Kaniha, Jindal Steel & Power Ltd, Angul, NALCO, Angul and MCL, Talcher

A cultural show followed the award ceremony with a performance by DJ Dance Group and Vinod Track Melody.

Among others, chief guest Niranjan Rath, publisher, The Samaj, chief speaker Mrinal Chatterjee, head IIMC-Dhenkanal, Braja Kishore Pradhan, Talcher MLA, Shyama Bhakta Mishra, sub collector, Talcher and Pabitra Bhutia, chairman, Talcher Municipality were present.
