Hundreds of women drivers today enthusiastically took part in the ‘Pledge for Parity’ car rally in Odisha capital to promote women empowerment and spread the message of equality across all sections of society.
More than 150 thematically designed cars were flagged off from KIIT Stadium after an on-venue registration, driving demonstration at Jyote Motor’s ‘Anybody Can Drive’ track & car evaluation session, in the first ever women’s car rally of Bhubaneswar.
Organised by Carnival– one of the leading Creative agencies of Odisha in association with Seva Prayas Foundation, the rally started from KIIT Stadium and culminated at 7th Battalion ground. It went through Sainik School, Vani Vihar, Ram Mandir, Sastri Nagar and Jayadev Vihar of the city.
Founder of KISS & KIIT University Achyuta Samanta, Twin City Police Commissioner YB Khurania and Shivendra Narayan Bhanj Deo, King of erstwhile princely state of Kanika attended the inaugural event and flagged off the rally.
At the destination, a prize giving ceremony was organized at 7th Battalion ground.
While Manaja Panda, Harapriya Mallick & Rohini Samantray were awarded first, second and third trophies respectively for best dress, Bijaya Bhat won the first cash prize for ‘I am a Corporate Lady’ theme, Banasmita Das won the second prize for ‘Women’s Education is Women’s Empowerment’ theme & Prachi Agarwal Mahajan won the third prize for ‘Bold is Beautiful’ theme.
Addressing the rally, founder of KISS & KIIT University Achyuta Samanta said, “We are very thankful to the organizing team for taking such appreciable initiative to create awareness on the social causes which can be a kind of platform for women’s empowerment. It has also helped us extend support to the local community in the region. So hopefully it will continue every year for the social causes”.
Commissioner Khurania also expressed his happiness to be part of the event. “I am glad to see the tremendous participation and enthusiasm among the participants,” he said.
Attending the closing ceremony at the destination point, North Bhubaneswar MLA Priyadarshi Mishra distributed the prizes to the winning participants and said, “We are confident that the women we award for their contribution to the betterment of society at the women’s car rally will continue to inspire other women”.
