Tension prevails at Karadapali village of Narsinghpur panchayat under Ranpur police station limits in Odisha’s Nayagarh district after a woman was allegedly thrashed and stripped by a group of local people on Sunday.
According to reports, a woman of the village was cleaning the front verandah of her house in the morning when Kulamani Jena, Laxmidhar Jena, Biju Singh and Yudhistir Jena of Karadapali village, Dasia of Nihalprasad village and Rabi of Banikilo village hurled vulgar words at her and issued threats.
These men were angry with her because she had accused them of implicating her husband in a false case and sending him to jail. When the woman asked them not to use abusive language, they caught hold of her and allegedly stripped her naked.She was also allegedly subjected to severe beating, reports said.
As the woman shouted for help, her neighbours rushed to her rescue. Seeing them, the six villagers fled the spot after pelting stones at the woman,who sustained bleeding injuries on her head.
She was immediately admitted to the hospital.
Later, the victim along with some women of the village went to Ranpur police station to lodge a complaint.
At the police station, the irate women,who were demanding the arrest of the culprits, had a scuffle with the police.
The police have begun investigation into the incident after registering a case in this connection.
