Locals rescued a woman from a car with limbs bound with ropes in Odisha’s district headquarters town of Baripada.
According to reports, locals heard a woman screaming in a moving car in busy Station Bazar area in the city yesterday following which they intercepted the car to find out a woman bound with ropes.
The locals pulled the driver out of the car and tied him to an electric pole. When the probing men did not get any satisfactory reply from the accused, the latter was thrashed and handed over to the police.
During questioning, the accused husband claimed that his wife is a psychiatric patient and he was taking her to see a doctor. On the contrary, the woman—who is the second wife of the man—said that her husband has sold off all her jewellery and was taking her to kill her.
With conflicting statements coming in, police have registered a case of abduction and forwarded the man to court. Police have begun and investigation into the matter.
The woman hails from Astapur in Balasore district.
