Bhubaneswar: A young woman lodged a complaint against her beau after allegedly being cheated and harassed by him.
A case has been registered at Khandagiri police station on basis of the allegation leveled by the victim against her lover.
The accused identified as Abhinandan Swain, a resident of Erasama area in Jagatsinghpur district, is at large following the complaint.
The victim alleged that she was ditched by her lover after staying with him for eight months.
As per the complaint, Abhinandan left the woman after keeping her with him for eight months in pretext of marriage. When she approached the youth’s family seeking justice, his father, who is a former Sarpanch, offered her money to leave his son. Even, she was issued death threat by the youth’s father after she did not agree at their proposal and conditions.
According to reports, the young woman, who was living with her aunt after her mother’s death in Bhubaneswar, fell in the love trap laid by Abhinandan from missed call nine months ago. The two had met at the bus stand in Baramunda and decided to tie the knot. They started staying together without marriage at a rented house in Ghatikia area for eight months.
However, Abhinandan was making delay to marry the girl. After eight months, the youth suddenly disappeared cheating on the girl. When she contacted his family, his father offered her money not to follow his son further. He allegedly threatened to kill her if she did not leave his son.
Without having any option, the victim lodged a complaint with Khandagiri police seeking action against the accused. Following the complaint, her statement was recorded in the court on Thursday.
