Woman killed, 4 critically injured after truck hits ambulance in Odisha

Balasore, Nov 3:

A woman patient was killed and four others were critically injured when an out-of-control truck hit their ambulance on NH-5 near Chingudi square in Balasore district of Odisha , today.

The 108 ambulance which was carrying a sick woman  along with her husband, son-in-law, daughter and ambulance staff was hit by a speeding truck from the backside.

The patient Dhanantari Mahanta was killed on spot, while her relatives, her husband Karitaka Mohanty, son-in-law of Dhanantari Rajesh Kumar Mahanta , daughter Subhasmita Mahanta, and an ambulance staff were critically injured in the accident, said reports.

The accident took place under Simulia police station, when the ambulance carrying Dhanantari to SCB medical college in Cuttack from Baripada was hit from behind. The four injured were admitted to a local hospital.

Later, two patients have been shifted to SCB medical college and hospital after their condition started deteriorating, according to reports.
