Cuttack, Dec 3:

A female constable of Odisha police has approached her higher-ups alleging that a woman cop has been harassing and threatening her every time she went to follow-up the case which she has filed that a youth has raped her on the pretext of marriage.

The complainant today approached Cuttack DCP’s office and alleged that she was threatened by a female SI of the Mahila Police Station (MPS). The woman officer made derogatory remarks when she went to enquire about the case registered by her. However, MPS IIC Anusuya Nayak has feigned ignorance about the case.

According to reports, the victim had registered her name on a matrimony site in search of a groom of her interest with her mobile number and other necessary details.

A youth identified as Motilal Das alias Mohan (32) allegedly got her number from the site and sought to marry her after begging her love over telephone following which she had a telephonic conversation with the father of the accused on July 20.

After getting consent from Mohan’s family, the duo met on August 4 for the first time and spent the day in Bhubaneswar. The victim returned to her rented-house in Cuttack in the evening.

Later, he used to visit her rented-house in Cuttack and had developed a physical relation promising to marry her.

The accused had visited her last on September 15 at Cuttack with a marriage proposal but he remained incommunicado since then as his mobile phone was switched off.

When she tried to contact Mohan’s brother, he allegedly threatened to kill her.

Following this, she filed a written complaint at MPS on November 26. Police registered a case against Mohan and his brother under section 376, 506, 493 and 34 of IPC.

Seeking action against the brothers and police officer, she knocked on the doors of DCP.

On the other hand, MPS IIC Anusuya Nayak said that she was unaware of the incident and investigations were on to nab the accused.
