Soon after the obituary references, the members of the opposition Congress and BJP were up on their feet raising slogans and waving banners demanding Patnaik’s resignation.

As the din continued, the Speaker adjourned the House till 12.15 pm.

The opposition members resumed their slogan shouting when the House reassembled at 12.15. The Speaker adjourned the House for a second time till 3 pm after failing to persuade the opposition members to get back to their seats.

“The ongoing CBI investigation has made it abundantly clear that the government and senior leaders of the ruling party are closely involved in the chit fund scam in which lakhs of poor have lost their hard earned money. The Chief Minister must own moral responsibility and resign,” said BJP Legislature Party leader Basanta Kumar Panda.

BJD MLA and spokesperson Samir Dash, however, condemned the Opposition protest. “The investigation into the scam is on. The Chief Minister has made it clear that he is ready for a discussion on any issue in the House. Under the circumstances, there is absolutely no justification for the Opposition to disrupt proceedings in the House,” he said after the House was adjourned.

  1. First the CBI should arrest Naveen Pattnaik as he is involved in this chit fund case. Now he is not chief minister of Odisha, he has been converted into the Chit Minister of Odisha. His moral responsibility is to resign from the CM’s post and face all the CBI probes into all scams including chit fund, coal, mining, land and other such cases.
