Bhubaneswar, Jun 14:
An Odisha-based industrialist is again in the news for wrong reasons as his wife has leveled wife-swapping allegations against him.
Lopamudra Mishra– wife of industrialist Sabyasachi Mishra—today alleged that his husband forced her to go for wife-swapping during a trip to Port Blair. Besides her husband, she has alleged that her father-in-law and industrialist Trailokya Mishra, and mother-in-law have been subjecting her to physical and mental torture.
“While we had gone on a trip to Port Blair, I saw him talking to a foreigner. I didn’t give much importance to it. Moments later, he came to me and asked to go for wife swapping which I strongly objected to. Then he started beating me ruthlessly. I had to return from the trip on the third day of the scheduled 10-day trip,” Lopamudra Mishra, the complainant said.
It may be mentioned here that the estranged couple had got married in 2006.
The complainant alleged that she has been subjected to torture on numerous occasions.
According to reports, the woman had approached an NGO seeking intervention. When the attempts to sort out the issue failed, she moved the Mahila police on May 10.
“A case under Section 498 A and 506 of IPC has been registered with Mahila police. The Investigating Officer (IO) is probing the matter and the supervising officer has also been told to expedite the matter,” Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrata Bhoi said.
“The accused needs to be arrested soon as he is said to leave India on June 16. If he moves out of the country, then the case will become weak. We feel that the complainant needs police protection,” member of city-based NGO Madhyam, Subhashree Das said.
It may be mentioned here that Sabyasachi is the son of Trailokya Mishra and Deputy Managing Director of Nayagarh Sugar Complex Limited (NSCL).
Trailokya and Sabyasachi were not available for comments.
