Commissionerate Police on Friday arrested four persons, including a woman, in connection with the murder of Purna Chandra Sahoo (40), an employee of a medicine shop in Bhubaneswar and a resident of Bomei village under Chandaka police station, on Tuesday night.
The arrested persons were identified as Sukanti Sahoo, wife of the deceased, Pratap Parida, lover of Sukanti and a resident of Rajas village under Balipatana police station, Arjun Pradhan of Brahmasahi of Sarankul area and Rudra Pratap Mohanty of Pipili.
All four were arrested from Pipili area and booked under section 302/397/120 B/109/34 of IPC and forwarded to court, Jatni police said.
A knife and a motorcycle used in the crime were seized from their possession.
According to police, Sukanti had an extra-marital relationship with Pratap and had planned to eliminate her husband with the help of her paramour. They later hired Arjun and Rudra for Rs 10,000 each for the purpose.
As per the plan, the duo stabbed Purna to death on Tuesday night at Taalakhera Chhak under Jatani police station while he was returning home from his medicine shop.
