Wi-Fi service kicks off at Khurda Road station in Odisha

Khordha: Free Wi-Fi service was today commissioned at the Khurda Road railway station in Odisha.

Minister of state for Railways Manoj Sinha inaugurated the service being present at Rail Sadan in Bhubaneswar.

At a function organised at the station on the occasion, Khurda Road Division ADRM SP Dwivedi said the station is an important junction. In a bid to provide internet service to the passengers, Wi-Fi has been commissioned, he said.

Sinha also laid foundation stone of a railway overbridge (ROB) in lieu of Khetrajpur Level Crossing Gate No JT-25 between Sambalpur and Hirakud.

Besides, he inaugurated electrified section between Sambalpur and Jharsuguda by running of Passenger Train No 58135/58136 by Electric Loco.

Giving highest emphasis on passenger amenities at stations & trains, Sinha said that focus is being given to connect Railways with unconnected regions. He also said that Railway will stand on its commitment on different projects including Jeypore-Malkangiri project. Funds will not be an issue for any projects in this region, he added.

Sinha said that projects like Khurda Road-Balangir, Haridaspur-Paradeep and Angul-Sukinda lines are being monitored at the highest levels of government. He stated that he had a firm belief that progress of a state is linked to progress in Railway infrastructure. States like Odisha were neglected in field of Railways for years together. Hence, priority is now being given to high level of funding to all old/pending projects, he said.
