Though the organizers, Biju Memorial Trust at a press conference here wanted to play it down by calling it a memorial meeting of Biju lovers and not a party programme, it inviting national level leaders like Nitish Kumar, Sharad Yadav, Mulayam Singh Yadav, the Governor and Chief Minister of the state certainly holds significance.

“We are inviting several national leaders, the Governor and the Chief Minister. We have written letters to leaders like Nitish Kumar, Sharad Yadav and Mulayam Singh Yadav to attend the memorial meeting,” said Damodar Rout after the press meet.

Rout, however, clarified:”We are yet to receive their consents for attending the memorial meeting.”

“Foundation stone of a ‘Biju Minaar’ would be laid in memory of the late leader on the occasion,” the Biju loyalist added.

A souvenir will be unveiled for which writings have been invited from noted writers. A photo exhibition featuring activities of Biju Babu will also be displayed, Rout said. This apart, a short film will be also screened on the life of the late great leader which includes his speeches and visits to various places, Rout revealed.

The Trust has planned a mass campaign across Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur districts before the occasion apart from decorating the port town for the purpose.

The Trust has been every year celebrating Biju’s birthday to remind people of his contribution to the establishment of the Paradip port, this year being the centenary; the Trust has planned it big.
