Western Odisha Lawyers suspend agitation

Odisha Sun Times

Jharsuguda, Feb 20:
The Central Action Committee (CAC) of All Western Odisha Lawyers Bar Association today here decided to allow functioning of all government offices from tomorrow.
At a meeting here, the CAC also decided to allow courts to take up duties and cases of emergency nature. However, it was decided at the meeting that the lawyers would continue to boycott court work on the last three days of every month as they have been doing so far.
CAC convener Ashok Das told reporters that the CAC decided to suspend its agitation demanding a permanent bench of the High Court in western Odisha till March 15 in view of the inconvenience caused to the people of western Odisha due to the closure of government offices.
He said the CAC will continue with its agitation pressing for a permanent bench but will allow government offices, courts (in a limited sense), schools, banks and other establishments to function normally to prevent harassment to  the people in western Odisha.
The CAC had been agitating on the high court bench issue since February 3.
