Farmers were agitating on a 12 point charter of demand which includes drought situation, farmer suicide and distress sale of paddy.

Farmers blocked highways in Sambalpur, Redhakhol, Sundergarh and Balangir at different places about three hours. Thousands of vehicles remained stranded on both sides of the roads affecting normal life.

Members of POKSSS blocked NH 55 and 53 at Barehipalli in Sambalpur.

POKSSS has demanded that the state government should first admit that farmers were committing suicide due to crop failure and debt burden.

The POKSSS has warned to intensify its agitation in the future if the government fails to yield to its demands.
