Voter turnout in Kandhamal district during the first phase elections in Odisha on Thursday has gone up by a whopping 11 percent compared to the 2009 elections.
As against 62 per cent polling in the 2009 elections, 73.15 percent polling was recorded in this election.
Out of a total of 477489 voters in the district, 349218 exercised their franchise of which 172050 were male and 177210 female.
In Baliguda Assembly constituency, 75.59 percent polling was recorded in K Nuagan block, 75.67 in Baliguda, 64.27 in Tumudibandh and 80.59 in Kotagarh block.
The average polling from this constituency was 74.26 percent.
In G Udayagiri Assembly constituency, 72.93 percent polling was recorded in Daringbani block, followed by 71.27 percent in Tikabali, 70.28 in Raikia and 64.94 percent in G Udayagiri.
The average polling from this constituency is 70.52 percent.
In Phulbani Assembly constituency, 68.51 percent polling was recorded in Phulbani block, 76.85 in Khajuripada, 78.96 in Phiringia and 76.48 in Chakapada block.
The average polling from this constituency is 75.2 percent.
