Bhubaneswar, Feb 7:
Keeping the acute shortage of teaching staff in colleges of the state, the Odisha government has decided to introduce virtual classrooms from July this year.
Sources in the Higher Education department said that the facilities would be introduced in 60 colleges in the first phase.
Two leading colleges from each of the 30 districts will be fitted with video-conference equipment and other modern technologies for the purpose.
The facilities would be extended to other colleges in phases, official sources said.
The implementation of the project will be done at a cost of Rs 2 crore with technical support from the Orissa Remote Sensing Application Centre (ORSAC) and financial assistance from the World Bank.
