Jeypore, Oct 7:
Tension ran high in Vikram Dev College in Odisha’s Jeypore town today following rejection of nomination papers of a student who had filed his nomination for the post of vice-president of the students’ union.
Supporters of the student whose nomination papers were rejected ransacked furniture and other articles of the college before staging a dharna in front of the college gate.
Irate students had locked the main gate of the college demanding reconsideration of the case.
Reports said the student lacked 75 percent attendance to partake in the students’ union elections as per the recommendations of the Lyngdoh Commission.
