Bhadrak: Communication between Gobindapur under Olang Panchayat and other villages in Bhadrak district has been cut off following a breach of the approach road near Govindpur bridge on Salandi river this morning.

Several vehicles were seen stranded on both sides of the road due to the breach following incessant rain.

Sources said the bridge was constructed in 2002 and villagers of over 10 Panchayats depend on the bridge for transport. Damage of a major portion of the approach road following incessant rain has left the villagers in the lurch.

The approach road collapsed as the Hadagada dam released flood water following heavy rain on the upper catchement of Mahanadi that led to rise in water level of Salandi river, sources added.

Meanwhile, locals alleged that the road collapsed due to substandard work.
