Bhubaneswar, Dec 20:

National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) state unit president Itish Pradhan and proprietor of Pradip Pandey appeared before the Capital police here today in connection with the controversial video uploaded in the website purportedly featuring city Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena.

Pradhan arrived at the police station after being discharged from Capital Hospital as he was admitted to the medical due to injuries which he had sustained during a clash between Congress activists and policemen at Rajmahal Square here earlier in the day.

Pradhan was brought to the police station in an ambulance and taken inside on a stretcher. However, his statement couldn’t be recorded as police let him go on health grounds. He will again appear before police after his recovery, sources said.

Similarly, Pandey deposed before the police and was asked to reappear on December 27. He was provided with a copy of the FIR which was lodged by the Mayor against him and Pradhan at Capital police station.

“We hadn’t mentioned the name of any person in the video. We had only asked viewers to identify the person in the video,” Pandey said.

“The video has links with the murder of Rishi and his friends and lover should be questioned regarding the incident. Rishi’s death is not unnatural. The video is two years old and there is proof that Rishi had kept the video,” he said.

Informing about the investigation into the case, Twin City Police Commissioner YB Khurania said, “We are probing under no pressure. Give us some time, we will bring the truth to fore.”

Notably, a case was registered against Pradhan and Pandey on December 16 on the basis of a complaint filed by Jena at the Capital police station for maligning his reputation.
