Vehicle lifting gang busted in Odisha, five held


Bhubaneswar: Government Railway Police (GRP) have busted a gang of vehicle lifters with arrest of five persons including two juveniles, police said today.

This apart, as many as 13 number of vehicles including 12 motor cycles and one four wheeler have been recovered from the gang.

The gang was involved in many cases of vehicle thefts from the railway stations and other places at Rayagada, Koraput and Khurda. After theft, they used to sell these vehicles at very low prices ranging from Rs 5, 000 to Rs 15,000. The police are also searching for receivers of the stolen motor cycles who purchased the vehicles at throw away price, police said.

The arrested major persons have been identified as Lipu Mangaraj (20) of village Godipada, Khurda, Akshaya Hati @Akhi (26) of village Godipada, Khurda and Anil Badajena @ Kalia (19) of village Malipada, Badjena Sahi, Khurda.

The arrested persons will be forwarded to the court tomorrow.

The vehicles recovered are: Mahindra Bolero (OD-18-6866), Hero Honda Splendor Plus (OR-13E-3067), Bajaj Discover (OR-02BN-8764), Hero Honda Splendor Plus (OR-01P-5259), Hone CB Trigger (OD-02P-7468), Bajaj Pulsar-150 (OR-02BL-8941), Bajaj Pulsar-150 (OR-Q2BR-9899), Hero Honda Dream Yuga (UP-34V-4951),  Hero Honda Splendor Plus (details erased), Bajaj Pulsar-220 (OR-02BP-2705), Bajaj Pulsar-200 (OD-11C-6419), Hero Honda Passion Plus (OR-10E-5269), Hero Honda Passion Plus (OR-10E-5567).
