Varsity status to CET, IGIT: Odisha govt forms four-member committee

The Technical Education department of the Odisha government has formed a four-member committee to accord university status to the College of Engineering and Technology (CET) and Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology (IGIT).

govt-of-odisha-logoThe committee would verify the eligibility criteria of these two institutes in fulfilling all the norms required for the grant of university status.

The expenses of the committee would be borne by the Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT).

The committee, led by the vice chancellor of Vir Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) as the chairman, has the Director, Technical Education and Training (DTET) and Prof LN Panda, head of the department of Mechanical Engineering of CET as members while the CET chairman is the convener.

The committee would verify the details of these two institutes including the required infrastructure, faculty and students’ strength and other existing facilities.

The committee would submit its report within three months. The department would necessary steps after they receive the report of the committee.
