Varsities should devise system to produce quality students: Odisha minister

Odisha minister for Higher Education Pradeep Kumar Panigrahy exhorted universities in the state to strive for quality and devise processes to produce students who could perform much better in all India competitive examinations.

The minister was addressing the 17th foundation day ceremony of North Odisha University here today.

Expressing unhappiness over the unsatisfactory performance of Odisha students at various all India examinations, Panigrahy said its high time universities adopted corrective measures to prepare students to take on new challenges in the changed global scenario.

Education system should be formulated keeping in view the different aspects of the emerging situations as without quality education, a good vibrant and healthy society is beyond the realm of possibility, the minister said.

Among those felicitated by the North Odisha University on its 17the foundation day were noted painter Jatin Das, Kendriya Sahitya Academy awardee Damayanti Besra (Mayurbhanj district), educationist Pandit Madan Mohan Mishra and journalist Arun Panda (Keonjhar district).
