Bhubaneswar, Sep 27:
A day after a woman died inside her car during road blockade by Utkal University students at Vani Vihar square, the kin of the deceased today lodged an FIR with the Saheed Nagar police station in the Odisha capital demanding probe into the incident.
Mukesh Kumar, cousin of the deceased Suman Sharma, alleged that her sister’s death has occurred due to mob violence.
“I strongly suspect that the cause of the death is due to mob violence,” Kumar alleged.
Describing the details of the event, Kumar held the Utkal University students responsible who, he said, in large numbers rushed to her vehicle bearing registration number OD 02D 1039. Following this, she tried to take a U-turn but the ignition of the vehicle snapped and mob proceeded close to her.
“I strongly suspect that the cause of her death was mob violence. I request the commissionerate police to book the culprits and give justice to her family members,” Mukesh said.
“We would take action after examining the CCTV footage,” Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrata Bhoi said.
Meanwhile, deceased’s husband Vinod Kumar, father Vakil Sharma and mother reached the Capital Hospital this morning and held the students of Utkal University responsible for the unfortunate incident and demanded arrest of those responsible for it.
