According to reports, the accused asked the security personnel to allow him to go to attend nature’s call. However, he managed to escape from the police custody by breaking the urinal skylight.

The UTP identified as Saroj Gocchi, a resident of Ekadal village under the Kanpur police station in Cuttack district, was arrested by the Phulbani Town police in January this year on charges of motorcycle theft.

He was produced before the Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) court yesterday.

“A case has been lodged against him. We are conducting raids at several places to nab him,” Town police station IIC Umakant Pradhan said.

He was lodged in the jail as an undertrial prisoner since last two months.
