Sundargarh: Tension gripped Kendudiha High School under Hemagiri block in Odisha’s Sundargarh district today as locals locked the educational institution over an incident of a teacher’s alleged misbehaviour towards three girl students.
Irate villagers had yesterday thrashed the teacher. On being informed about the school being locked by the locals, Hemagiri BDO Pradip Danga and local IIC Sradhanjali Subudhi reached the spot and tried to pacify the villagers.
According to reports, the accused, a teacher of a primary school in the village, was taking classes at the high school due to lack of adequate number of teachers.
He reportedly misbehaved with three girl students yesterday while they were cleaning the campus ahead of inauguration of a new building of the school, which was scheduled to be held today.
The students told about the incident to their parents following which the teacher was beaten by some villagers.
