While the new syllabus would be introduced in all Plus Three colleges under Utkal University in the first phase, it would be introduced in Plus Three colleges under the other universities subsequently.

Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) would be mandatory in all Plus Three colleges while the students will have to appear in the examinations with a total marks of 2400.

As per the decision taken by the Higher Education department, the leave and vacation availed by the teachers and the students would be much less from now on. There would be no cancellation of classes unless there is an emergency situation.

The department has taken the decision on the basis of the opinions emerging at the vice chancellors’ conference hosted by the Utkal University and the new rules framed by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

The move would be approved at the Academic Council meeting of the Utkal University scheduled on June 19.

According to Prof Santosh Tripathy, director, College Development Council, Utkal University, the University has prepared the new Plus Three syllabus.

“The Council has asked the vice chancellors to introduce the new syllabus at the earliest. The new syllabus would be distributed to all Plus Three colleges under the jurisdiction of Utkal University after the Council meeting,” he added.
