Koraput: A day after two under-trial prisoners (UTPs) fled from court premises, the District SP today suspended three concerned policemen for dereliction of duty.

The suspended cops are K Shankri, Rajendra Swain and Manandhar Gouda.

Two UTPs– Lal Bahadur Darji and T Paban Kumar– escaped from the premises of Jeypore Court while they were being brought out of the court by police last evening.

The duo used the excuse of attending nature’s call to flee, reports said. A manhunt has been launched to nab the UTPs, who were arrested and lodged in Jeypore Jail for their alleged involvement in several criminal cases including those of rape, loot and dacoity.
