Two senior police personnel from Odisha have been selected to receive the President’s police medal for distinguished service on the occasion of 68th Republic Day.

The two top cops are 1993-batch Odisha cadre IPS officer Sushant Kumar Nath and Bhadrak SP Dilip Kumar Das.

Nath is presently posted as IG (modernisation) at the police headquarters here.

In addition to this, 11 police officers from Odisha have been selected to receive police medal for meritorious service. They are: DIG (South Western Range, Koraput) S Shyni, Koraput ASP V Raghunath Rao, Titlagarh SDPO Dilip Kumar Purohit, Vigilance DSP Bibhudendra Sahoo, Inspector Suryamani Pradhan, Inspector Geeta Rani Swain, Inspector Pramod Sahoo, SI Dalabandhu Pradhan, ASI Subash Chandra Mishra, Havildar Mohan Chandra Mallick, Constable Rameswar Naik.

Notably, 777 personnel will be awarded with police medals on the occasion of the Republic Day this year. Police Medals for Gallantry (PMG) will be awarded to 100 personnel, President’s Police Medals for Distinguished Service to 80 personnel and Police Medal for Meritorious Service to 597 personnel.

While 32 Jammu and Kashmir personnel will get the Gallantry medial, the award will go to 12 personnel from Andhra Pradesh, seven each from Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh and four each from Assam and Manipur.
