Rourkela: In a joint combing operation by Odisha and Jharkhand police two members of Peoples Liberation Front of India (PLFI) were arrested from a forested area under Raiboga police limits in Sundargarh district today.
Two guns and huge quantity of explosives including ammunition were seized from them.
The arrested ultras have been identified as Sushil Hansda, a native of Birangtoli under Raiboga police limits and Jaipal Topno of neighbouring state Jharkhand, police sources said.
Acting on a tip-off that PLFI members were holding a camp in a forested area under Raiboga police limits, Sundargarh SP Pinaki Mishra and his Simdega counterpart of neighbouring Jharkhand conducted joint combing in the area.
During the search operation police had an exchange of fire with the PLFI members, who numbered around seven, police sources said.
While two were arrested, the remaining including most wanted Vijay Dang have managed to escape, the sources further said.
About 50 rounds of fire was exchanged between the ultras and the police, the sources added.
Combing operations were on at the filing of this report.
