Two days after carcass of a tusker was found from Panichua Mutt forest under Mahabiroda forest range in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district, Dhenkanal Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) today suspended two forest personnel for dereliction of duty.
A Forester and a Forest Guard has been placed under suspension for dereliction of duty as a decomposed body of a female elephant was found from Panichua Mutt forest under Mahabiroda forest range on Tuesday, Dhenkanal DFO Pradip Kumar Sahu informed.
“The two forest officials have been suspended as they were unaware of the fact that an elephant had died,” Sahu added.

It may be recalled that villagers had spotted carcass of a five-year-old female elephant in a forested area following which forest officials were informed about the incident.
