While the Mumbai-based Odia journalist Alaka Sahani has won the Swarn Kamal (Golden Lotus) as the best film critic, two others from Odisha have won national film awards for their work in two different categories.
Film maker Lipika Singh Darai has won the Rajat Kamal (Silver Lotus) for the ‘best voiceove’ in the non-fiction category for her documentary, ‘Kanki O Saapa’ which captures her candid conversation with her grand mother. This 16-minute film has been scripted, directed, audiographed and edited by hers.
Lipika won the national film awards in 2010 for her audiography in Marathi film ‘Garood and in 2012, for her non-fiction work ” Ek Gaccha, Ek Manisha O Ek Samudra’.
Mumbai-based Odia audiogarpher Nihar Samal has won the national film award for best audiography ( sound) in Hindi film ‘Madras cafe’.
