Crime Capital : Two men assaulted, robbed in city

On Thursday, unidentified miscreants attacked two people with sharp weapons near a hotel at Jaydev Vihar here and robbed them of cash and other valuables.

The victims Satyajit Chowdhary, an employee of a private company and his relative, an engineering student Devi Prasad Swain hve been admitted to a private hospital here.

According to sources, two bike borne miscreants attacked Satyajit from behind while he was coming out of an ATM counter in Jaydev Vihar after withdrawing money. They assaulted him and his relative Deviprasad repeatedly with sharp weapons and snatched away cash and other valuables from them.

The employees of a nearby hotel rescued and rushed them to a hospital.

The matter came to light after the father of Satyajit, Harekrushna Chowdhary lodged a complaint with the Nayapalli police on Thursday night.

On Wednesday, bike borne miscreants had looted Rs 1.4 lakh from a contractor in front of HDFC Bank at Sriya square on Wednesday. Police is yet to make any breakthrough in the case.
