Three hardcore Maoists were arrested during a joint combing operation by Narayanpatna police, SOG and BSF jawans on the last day of the PLGA week, police said today.
While one of the arrested Maoists, Birendra Miniaka, is from Burja village near Laxmipur, the other two- Nabin Praska and Sona Wateka – are from Dhaiguda and Siriguda villages respectively under Narayanpatna block,said Jaladhar Jali, SDPO Laxmipur at a press meet here today.
Birendra has two cases of murder apart from several cases of extortion against him at the Laxmipur police station, said police.
Police said Nabin Praska and Sona Wateka have seven cases of manslaughter, besides more than 19 other serious cases including laying of land mines, against them.
Before joining the Koraput-Srikakulam division of the CPI (Maoist), the two Maoists had worked as active members of the Narayanpatna based Chasi Mulia Adivasi Sangh (CMAS), said Jali.
The SDPO added that the arrested were forwarded to court today.
