Malkangiri, Jun 9:
Two cadre Maoists and six militia members of the outlawed CPI (Maoist) today surrendered before the police in Odisha’s Malkangiri district.
The ultras surrendered before Malkangiri SP Mitrabhanu Mahapatra at the district police headquarters, police said.
The two surrendered cadre Maoists Unga Madkami and Adama Kartami had a reward of Rs 1 lakh each on their heads, police added.
The duo had been with the Kalimela Dalam of the CPI (Maoist) for five years, police said.
They said they had quit the organization because Maoists had deviated from their ideology and were engaged in inflicting atrocities on the general public.
Police claimed the surrendered Maoists were involved in Gurumurti Madhi’s murder, Keriaguda murder, Silakuta double murder, Kurub murder, Niliguda panchayat building blast and several other acts of violence.
“The surrendered Maoists and militias will be provided with rehabilitation facilities as per government rules and regulations,” said Mitrabhanu Mahapatra, SP Malkangiri.
