The commissionerate police today arrested two youths in connection with the rape of a girl at Chandaka on the outskirts of the city on July 18. The duo, identified as Ranjan Sethy (28) of Gaudapatna village and Bikash Sethy (26) alias Bikali of Barapalli village under Khandapada police station limits, was arrested from Khandapada town in Nayagarh district and forwarded to the court, said IIC of Mahila police station Sarojini Nayak.
Police had earlier arrested the prime accused Jitendra Kumar Biswal, a native of Kendrapada district, from the spot while his two accomplices, including the driver of the vehicle, had managed to give the police the slip.
The girl, who is staying with her family at OMC colony of Unit-8 area in the city, had lodged a complaint with the Mahila police station on Friday after she was rescued by the Chandaka police.
Biswal, the main accused, had befriended the girl on social networking site Facebook and had invited her to join him for lunch and shopping at Patia Big Bazar on July 18. After lunch, the accused took her on a drive. He was joined by his friend on the way. Both of them raped her inside the car, according to the FIR lodged by the girl.
