Bhubaneswar, July 24
The commissionerate police today arrested two persons in connection with looting cash of Rs 2.24 lakh from a trader on July 20.
The arrested, identified as Pravat Paikaray (40) alias Tukuna Dash alias Aja from Unit-VI area under Capital police station limits and Tripati Gouda (28) alias Chhotu from Barabari Basti under Khandagiri police station limits, were later forwarded to the court.
Police seized one 9mm pistol, three live cartridges, a hero Honda bike and cash worth Rs 10,000 from their possession.
The duo had looted cash from a local trader Harish Prasad Rath after intercepting his four-wheeler while he was on the way to deposit the cash in a bank at Sahidnagar. As Rath tried to resist, one of them opened fire at him, said IIC of Capital Police Station Aseem Kumar Panda.
Efforts are on to apprehend other accused involved in the case, he said.
