While Japanese Encephalitis continued to claim lives in Odisha, Malkangiri Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) today placed two health workers under suspension for dereliction of duty.
The suspended health workers have been identified as Subal Charan Mistry and Biswanath Patra. The duo was working at Palkonda and Badli nodal centres respectively.
Malkangiri CDMO Udaya Shankar Mishra suspended the two health workers for dereliction of duty.
On the other hand, Joint Secretary of Health & Family Welfare Department Ajit Mishra and Director of Public Health Department Dr Kailash Chandra Das today visited the district headquarters hospital here to take stock of the situation.
According to government sources, a team of nine doctors including four paediatricians and one anesthesiologist have been sent to the affected district to treat the affected children. While three teams are camping at the district headquarters hospital, another group is stationed at Kalimela Community Health Centre (CHC).
The Japanese Encephalitis deaths continued unabated as the toll reached 45 today with two more deaths. Two-year-old Dasarath Nayak of Dangaraguda village in the district died late on Saturday night and two-year-old girl Julie Kabasi from Kalakunda village under Padia block died in the wee hours today.
