Bhubaneswar, Sep 9:
The Quick Action Team (QAT) of the Twin City Commissionerate Police today arrested two persons for possessing illegal fire arms.
The accused were identified as Suresh Kumar Behera (33) of Kharadapali under Bolagarh in Khurda district and Deshabandhu Behera alias Desha (40) of Chakradhara Prasad of Fetegarh police station in Nayagarh district.
Police has slapped charges under section 25 of the Arms Act against the accused.
According to police, acting on a tip off, the QAT, along with Tamando police, intercepted a speeding bike on the road leading from Kalinganagar to village Bhagabanpur near ‘Rameswar Rice Mill’ and arrested the two youths who were identified as Suresh and Deshabandhu. One illegal pistol and three rounds of ammunition were recovered from their possession, they added.
This apart, the police have seized one mobile phone and one motor cycle bearing registration number-OR-02-AV-9373 from the accused.
Investigation of the case is in progress, police said.
