Twin City police launch iCLIK for faster response to crime against women

Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissionerate today introduced a unique facility named Instant Complaint Logging Internet Kiosk (iCLIK) to check crimes against women in the capital city of Bhubaneswar.
This unique IT invention to control crimes against women is being implemented for the first time in any city in India. The kiosk is operational in the Bank of Baroda ATM at A-154, Saheed Nagar (near Sparsh Hospital), Bhubaneswar.

Commissioner Dr R P Sharma said this step had been taken to ensure that women in the Capital City of Bhubaneswar are able to redress their grievances 24×7 through this unique Kiosk.

“Any woman can register her complaint in any of three different ways using this Kiosk. A woman can lodge a complaint either by writing her complaint using the Kiosk in any of three languages -English, Hindi and Odia – or through voice command. Another way of registering a complaint is sending the scanned copy of the written complaint using the iCLIK Kiosk. Once the complaint gets registered, she will get a receipt for it from the Kiosk itself”, Sharma said.

This innovative grievance redressal system is a proprietary, patented system having the Patent 1178/KOL/2013. This unique system has been conceptualized and patented by Mr. Joydeep Nayak, IPS, IGP, Odisha.

DCP Bhubaneswar Nitinjeet Singh assured that the response of the Police will be immediate through the modern Control Room and the PCR Vans. This women-friendly concept is to make women feel safe in Odisha and enhance their interface with the police.

Odisha Compuer Application Centre (OCAC) has been the pioneer in implementing the technology. While the previous IT Secretary MS Padhi played a stellar role in ensuring the success of this pilot project, Sanjeeb Mishra, the present IT Secretary, has also made valuable contributions to the ICLIK project.

Golak Panda, Regional Manager of Bank of Baroda, took the lead in making Bank of Baroda the major sponsor of the initiative with the support of the higher management of the bank, which helped this unique project see the light of the day. Diversified Energy Solutions has helped in the overall logistical and technical aspects of the project.
