Bhubaneswar, June 25:
To strengthen the patrolling system in and around the Twin City (Bhubaneswar-Cuttack) of Odisha, the Commissionerate Police today inducted five Bolero vehicles and 29 motor cycles donated by the Nalco into its PCR fleet.
Out of the five vans, three will be used in Cuttack two in Bhubaneswar.
Nalco Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) Ansuman Das, along with Odisha’s Director General of Police (DGP) Prakash Mishra, flagged off the vehicles at a function here today.
Speaking on the occasion, the DGP said PCR vans are very important for the Commissionerate since it would reduce the response time of the police. He thanked the Nalco authorities for donating the vehicles.
The Nalco CMD promised the Commissionerate Police all help and support in the days to come. “We shall be very happy if these vehicles can help reduce crime in the Twin City,” he said.
As many as 40 Tata Sumo vehicles have been donated to the commissionerate police by the Nalco in phases during 2009-11.
Among others, twin city Commissioner of Police Dr R P Sharma, DCP Bhubaneswar Nitinjeet Singh, DCP Cuttack Sanjeev Arora, senior officials of the commissionerate and Nalco were present in the meeting.
