Tusker tramples man to death in Odisha


Dhenkanal: A tusker trampled a man to death in Dhenkanal district this morning.

The deceased was identified as Prasanna Baral (58), a resident of Mahadia village in Odapada area of the district.

According to reports, a herd of elephants had entered the village at around 5 am. Few locals in the morning had dispersed the elephants. A tusker in the herd attacked Prasanna finding him alone while he was moving towards a pond. The wild animal trampled him to death lifting him with its trunk.

The irate villagers detained three forest guards after the incident. On being informed about the detention of forest guards and the incident, police reached the village and rescued them.
