At least two persons were killed and seven injured when a speeding truck hit a stationary oil tanker on NH-16 near Damodarpur Chhak under Balugaon police limits in Odisha’s Khordha district this morning.


According to reports, the mishap took place when a tomato laden truck coming from Berhampur hit the rear of the oil tanker at Damodarpur Chhak.

Following the collision, the truck overturned and rammed into a tea shop crushing two persons to death on the spot. The deceased were identified as Keshav Paikaray (40) of Parikansari village and Sanatan Maharana (45) of Paikosidiha village.

On the other hand, the tea shopkeeper, driver of the truck and five others sustained injuries in the accident.

On being informed, local Tehsildar and police rushed to the spot. The injured persons were rescued and admitted to Balugaon hospital for treatment.
