The tiny north-eastern state of Tripura today announced a donation of Rs 1 crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) of Odisha for the relief and rehabilitation of flood and cyclone victims in Odisha, a government official said here Wednesday.
“The Tripura council of ministers chaired by Chief Minister Manik Sarkar in a meeting here Tuesday, decided to contribute Rs 1 crore to the Odisha CMRF soon,” the official said.
“The Tripura government considers that this is its moral duty to stand behind the people of Odisha,” the official said quoting the resolution of the state cabinet.
Around 1.2 crore people in 18 districts of Odisha have been affected by the twin calamities.
