Kolkata, Oct 5 :
A Trinamool Congress leader and his father were found murdered in West Bengal Sunday, police said.
The incident took place in Bankura district.
“We found the bodies of Indpur Trinamool block president Bikash Dutta and his father Mukunda Dutta from a pond,” Superintendent of Police Mukesh Kumar said.
“The bodies have been sent for post mortem. We have detained a few people for questioning,” he said.
While the ruling Trinamool Congress blamed the the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) and the BJP for the murders, the opposition said the killings resulted from internal feud in the Trinamool.
Local Trinamool leader Arup Chakrabarty said activists of the CPI-M and the Bharatiya Janata Party had been terrorizing people.
“Bikash had been threatened several times by CPI-M and BJP members who have unleashed terror in the region. The murders are a result of that,” he said.
Rubbishing Chakraborty’s claims, CPI-M district president Amiya Patra blamed the Trinamool’s internal feud for the murders. BJP leader Subhas Sarkar echoed the sentiment.
