Baleswar, Sep 10: Preparations are on for the second developmental trial of long range surface-to-surface ballistic missile Agni-V from the Wheeler Island, likely to be conducted on September 15.

The 17-metre-long advanced nuke capable missile, designed to carry a payload of 1,000 kg, has a three-stage solid-fuel.

The maiden flight test of the missile, successfully carried out on April 19 last year has elevated the defence capabilities of India as it now part of a group of select nations that possesses the technology for developing Inter-Continental Ballistic Missiles (ICBMs).

According to defence sources, another three or four tests of the missile would be conducted as the missile is targeted for induction into the army by 2015.
