Industrialist Trailokya Mishra and his son Sabyasachi Mishra today sought anticipatory bail from the Orissa High Court to avoid a possible arrest in the case pertaining to the allegation of physical and mental torture levelled against them by Sabyasachi’s wife-Lopamudra Mishra.
The father-son duo’s bail applications were filed by their counsel Siddheswar Mohanty in the High Court, sources said.
Lopamudra, besides, levelling charges of physical and mental torture for dowry against Sabyasachi and his family members has also alleged that her husband had forced her to go for wife-swapping during a trip to Port Blair.
Since no action was taken despite her registering a case vide case no. 117/2016 at the Mahila Police Station in Bhubaneswar in the matter a month back, left with no option Lopamudra Tuesday revealed all before the media.
“While we had gone on a trip to Port Blair, I saw him talking to a foreigner. I didn’t give much importance to it. Moments later, he came to me and asked to go for wife swapping which I strongly objected to. Then he started beating me ruthlessly. I had to return from the trip on the third day of the scheduled 10-day trip,” Lopamudra had told local television news channels on Tuesday.
It may be mentioned here that the estranged couple had got married in 2006.
The complainant had alleged that she has been subjected to torture on numerous occasions.
According to reports, the woman had approached an NGO seeking intervention. When the attempts to sort out the issue failed, she moved the Mahila police on May 10.
“A case under Section 498 A and 506 of IPC has been registered with Mahila police. The Investigating Officer (IO) is probing the matter and the supervising officer has also been told to expedite the matter,” Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrata Bhoi had said on Tuesday.
Notably, Sabyasachi is the son of industrialist Trailokya Mishra and Deputy Managing Director of Nayagarh Sugar Complex Limited (NSCL).
